Vault 7 – The CIA has Lost Control of its Entire Cyber Weapons Arsenal

Wikileaks in its conference just now confirmed again that the CIA has lost control of its entire cyber weapons arsenal that was stored on one of the CIAs air-gap networks.

It is alleged the CIA became aware that it had lost control of its weaponised malware a couple of months ago but gave out no warning.

Lets cover the highlights from the conference.

Other that Langley Virginia, Frankfurt in Germany is being used as a remote hacking base for the CIA to get physical access to European targets. This will be so that agents can use physical attacks such plugging in an infected USB stick, or radio frequency based attacks, Wi-Fi attacks and so on into Europe. I'm sure the Germans will be investigating.

Could these leaks be intentional? As it creates an obvious security issue it may forward political agendas that aim to consolidate or centralize digital security practices, measures and regulate digital access from a centralized source (government). Similar to how terrorism has been used as a front to propose solutions that erode individual security to improve state security or erode individual ability to improve state ability.

Considering the level of knowledge (poor to fair) the general public has on security and IOT in general, they would likely support whatever measure is proposed to “fix” the problem created by the CIA.

    Good summary of the situation!
    Thanks!

I partially agree with Joshua, meaning that they did it in purpose just to ask money to create a new arsenal… Let’s face it: nobody is surprised by the documents published by Wikileaks because :
    1) much of it is old and already patched:
    2) Hollywood already prepared the collective immagination….and to do that they first did their researches, wich means again much of that stuff is old…

I have reasons to believe this leaks are intensional, the CIA is always almost perfect in securing their data bank exspecially when it comes to sensitive data.
